We will join the Rebel Alliance together...
So I thought I would start my first blog off on a personal note. Yes it is finally happening. I am getting married this July. Less than 4 months now. OMG
So excited. Travis is the best thing I could ever ask for. Plus he has been amazing through out this whole wedding planning. I knew he would be since the theme was all his idea. He is a Star Wars geek. Lives eat and breathes those movies. So it isnt a far stretch to planning a Star Wars themed wedding.
I really had no idea how difficult it would be to find Star Wars themed wedding items. Like next to impossible for something that doesn't look like a kids birthday party. So what is the next best thing? I am making like 80% of the decorations. I am pretty darn crafty if I do say so myself. I am totally up to the task of making everything.
I am making rable runners out of burlap. I found that a bolt of burlap can be cut in half giving you two pieces lengthwise. Which is the perfect size for a table runner on a large round table. I decided on painting our initials on the ends of each runner because it just looked too plain and of course I am over ambitious when it comes to crafting. I am rotating between tables, half get the standard burlap and half are getting a dark chocolate brown burlap. Since our colors are Eggplant, Chocolate Brown and Spring Green I thought it would be a nice way to tie in the colors. The chocolate brown runners will be too dark for the purple paint so I also bought Spring Green paint for the R. This was my test design and I think it went very well. I printed out the letters using Microsoft word and transferred them onto heavy cardstock. The paint is just regular acrylic craft paint from Joann's Fabric. One thing I noticed was the paint seeped through so I had to put newspaper underneath. I recommend to anyone attempting to paint burlap, don't use sponge brushes. The burlap just dissolved the sponge and I had to switch to a smaller stiffer brush.
Forgive me Photography Gods for I have sinned. I never intended to blog my wedding progress so I didn't take a lot of photos, plus I used my cell phone so the quality blows. When I start on the darker brown I will take much better photos. I promise.
